Canadian Juniors FAQ

ABC's of investing in Canadian stocks

We came across this link, some of you might find it interesting.  It is written by Casey Research.

ABC's of investing in Canadian stocks

Do you announce your trades?

Although we do not announce everyone of our personal trades, the model portfolio very closely reflects the stocks that we invest in.

How much money do I need to start trading stocks?

Check with your brokerage firm for what the minimum amount is for your account. Since investing in Canadian Juniors is considered speculative, we recommended to only invest a small portion of your overall investment portfolio. Many investors have started with a small amount and expanded their capital from there.  We personally feel that investors should start with a trading account of $20,000 - $30,000.  That does not mean that someone with only $5000 cannot be successful.  It is much easier to diversify with a larger account.

How safe is my money in these stocks?

All investments involve risk and you should always consult with your registered investment advisor or stockbroker when considering investment opportunities. While considered more speculative than other investments, Canadian Juniors also provide the opportunity for substantial returns.

If I invest in Canadian Juniors, where can I track them?

There are many websites out there that will help you track your investments.

Stockcharts.com (this is the option we like best)

Freestockcharts.com

YahooFinance

Where can I buy Canadian Juniors?

If you are a US investor, almost any brokerage firm will let you buy the pink sheet version of the Canadian Juniors we recommend.  This is the 5 lettered symbol you can find at yahoo by typing in the company name.  We don't advise traders purchase these equities in this manner.  Its best to purchase these stocks directly on the Venture and Toronto exchanges.  Although there are many brokerage firms that will allow you to do this, we recommend opening an account with Interactive Brokers.

Trading FAQ

Can I ask a question regarding a position i'm in?

TheStockFox.com is not an investment advisory firm and cannot technically give you advice on your positions. We can tell you what we are doing with our positions and would be more than happy to give you our opinion. If you have a question, it’s preferred you ask on the message board so others can see the Q&A.

How many new set ups are posted each week?

In a typical week, 5-10 new set ups are posted each week.  You can't possibly come close to trading them all. Pick the ones that jive with your personality; pick the ones you like the best and ignore the others.

Spy System FAQ

Can I enter in after hours trading?

Yes, it is acceptable to enter or exit your trade in after hours markets. On most days, the SPY is usually liquid enough and the spreads between the bid and ask are not too far apart. We would recommend that unless you can enter within .10 cents of our trigger, we would wait until the next morning to see if a better price can be obtained.

Can I trade the 2x ETF's instead of the SPY?

Although we don't advocate you trade the leveraged ETF's because of the decay inherent within these equities, you can trade them at your own discretion.

1x 2x 3x
Long SPY SSO UPRO
Short SH SDS SPXU

Does the SPY System employ stops?

No, the SPY system does not use stops.  But if you feel more comfortable using stops with the system, here are some statistics to help you in determining what stop to use for your own risk management.

No Stops 5.5% Stop* 8.5% Stop*
Total Net Profit $531,388 $509,282 $520,737
Gross Profit $576,881 $370,334 $577,385
Gross Loss ($45,492) ($79,935) ($56,648)
Profit Factor 12.68 7.37 10.19
Percent Profitable 87.07% 85.92% 86.35%
Return on Initial Capital 531% 509% 521%

*This information does not accurately reflect the system results.  When you apply these settings to the system, the total number of trades increase by approx. 8 on the 8.5% stop and approx. 15 on the 5.5% stop. There is no accurate way to show these results, and because of this, we suggest you use the above information as a guideline, should you choose to use them.

How does TheStockFox.com alert me for a new trade?

We send all alerts out via email. We alert all subscribers 15-30 minutes before the end of the trading day, 4PM EST. Please make sure your email address is up to date and correct. We are not responsible for emails that are not received or delayed.

What ETF's can you recommend if I can only trade long in my account?

If you can only trade long in your account we would recommend you trade the "SPY" when the system goes long and to trade the "SH" when the system goes short.
